The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced the winners of its I Look Up Film Challenge, a competition for short films about architecture. Out of 47 entries, three inspiring films were recognized.
In first place, Arch 335: Rebuilding Medcamps, by Brad Deal, Robert Brooks and Michael Tolar, takes a detailed look at the facilities the Design Build Studios of Louisiana Tech University have designed for Medcamps of Louisiana, a non-profit organization that provides free summer camp to children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. The film explores the challenge of designing for accessibility, but also the impact for the young designers in using design to truly improve the quality of life of some one in need.
