NEXT architects has curated the second annual Bicycle Architecture Biennale as a showcase of buildings that transform cities through cycling. Opening in Amsterdam, the BAB shows the work of international designers from around the world and explores urban design through social, economic and environmental projects. It was conceived by BYCS as a way to inspire people to imagine new possibilities for human-centric cities.
After a successful first run, the second edition of the BAB launches on Monday, June 17th in Amsterdam. As NEXT outlines, a total of 15 projects from nine countries form the biennale. Projects were selected on their ability to demonstrate how design solutions can go beyond the functional, and also lead to healthier lifestyles, more inclusive communities, a cleaner environment or a more sustainable economy. NEXT and BYCS hope the biennale will inspire new ways of thinking about how to create cities fit for the future.
