Florida International University will unveil plans to build a $150 million engineering building that’s expected to increase the school’s engineering graduates by 20 percent and create hundreds of jobs in South Florida.
The new engineering building is part of $900 million in construction projects FIU has planned, but cannot officially move forward with.
FIU President Mark Rosenberg will unveil the plans for the 225,000-square-foot facility at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the FIU Parkview West on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus at 11200 S.W. 8th St. in Miami. The LEED Certified Gold building is expected to be built on land currently occupied by the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition.
