Cavalier Hotel Competition brief description:
The Project to be developed by GOLD KEY PHR required to transform the existing hotel into a destination resort to be set apart from all other Virginia Beach Resorts. The entire Cavalier compound is composed by 2 parcels: a historical hotel tower west of Pacific Avenue (similar in significance to our local Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables) and a dated 2-building facility east of Pacific Avenue with direct access to the beach. The parcel to be developed into a 300-key hotel and Beach Club was the water-front East property which contained an 11-story hotel tower and a detached 1-story Beach Club/Meeting Room facility. They indicated their desire to replace the hotel tower completely on the north while doing a modest remodeling to the Beach Club on the south. The competition also called for the implementation of a second tower to be developed as a residential building during a second stage. The 2 buildings currently on the site sit surrounded on 3 sides by a dreadful parking lot which is also the first thing a visitor experiences during their arrival.
